As we kick off our Annual Fund Drive we thought we would share
a poem written by a former employee.
Treasure Chest of HOPE
If I were to ask you what is a treasure?
What do you value that gives you pleasure?
The answers given would be quite varied.
A parent, a child or someone you married.
Is it colleagues, your family, your faith or a friend,
holding a newborn or a garden you tend?
Perhaps it's an heirloom passed down through the years,
or a special experience that chased away fears.
It might be a project you finished with pride,
or moments spent comforting someone who's cried.
What do you treasure? What's important to you?
Do you value an item or is it something you do?
Maybe you've created a gift you can share,
that will benefit others to show that you care.
How is your treasure chest looking today?
If I asked you right now, what would you say?
Would you answer, “It's filled with goodness and hope!”
or answer, “It’s empty with struggles to cope.”
There are times in life when we were asked to give,
to make it possible for others to live.
There are times in life when we are asked to receive,
to humble ourselves to hope and believe.
Whatever life hands us, whatever will be,
open that treasure chest by turning that key.
Discover the treasures that lie within,
so hope and help is there to begin.
I'll leave you with this before I go…
What is a treasure? I think you know!
